PDMD 2025: Advancements in Parkinsonโs Disease and Movement Disorders
May 1-2, 2025
PDMD 2025 was a premier international medical conference dedicated to advancing knowledge and clinical practice in Parkinsonโs disease and movement disorders. The event was organized in partnership with the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the Georgian Neuroscience Association (GNA).
The conference brought together specialists from Georgia, Poland, Turkey, Italy, and other countries, fostering meaningful cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange.
As part of the program, the Dandy NVU Club led an engaging workshop featuring hands-on experience with VR technology, offering participants practical insights into its application in neuroscience and movement disorder education.
Seminar on Mental Health Awareness

May 1, 2025
This eye-opening event included an illuminating panel discussion on โHow Mental Health Affects Criminal Minds, Deteriorates Recovery, and Post-Op Outcomesโ with Forensic Psychiatrist and Medical Interpreter Dr. Vanda Chanturidze, and Dr. Madona Akhobadze, MD, Neurosurgeon. The discussion covered a wide range of controversial topics, including the distinction between criminal intent and behavior influenced by psychiatric disorders, whether patients with mental illness are more vulnerable to developing conditions such as post-op delirium or chronic post-surgical pain, and what systemic changes are needed to bridge the gap between psychiatric and physical healthcare in criminal justice and recovery settings.
The event also featured a hands-on microsurgery procedure, where students tested their neurosurgical skills by assembling a microscopic burger with surgical tools under time pressure, as well as a psychopharmacology stall, an art corner, and a gratitude wall.

April 26-27, 2025
Tutoring Session: Internal Medicine II
This two-day event was organized to prepare students for the Internal Medicine 2 final OSCE examination through structured, hands-on learning.
Session 1 (26th April, 6 hrs): Focused on reviewing common OSCE cases and teaching key clinical examination techniques and diagnostic approaches. Tutors provided step-by-step guidance, emphasizing communication skills and critical thinking.
Session 2 (27th April, 3 hrs): Conducted as a mock examination, allowing students to rotate through stations under timed conditions, simulating the real OSCE environment and receiving constructive feedback.
This format helped students build both confidence and competence ahead of their assessments.

Stroke Awareness Event
This interactive workshop was divided into two key segments:
The first covered the pathophysiology of ischemic strokes, early symptom recognition, and diagnostic tools such as CT angiography (CTA), MRI, and cerebral angiography. The second part featured a hands-on thrombectomy simulation. Participants observed a live demonstration before practicing the technique in pairs or small groups. A custom model was built with a clay clot obstructing a simulated artery (wire). Attendees used aspiration catheters to remove the clot and completed the task with parachute anastomosis, offering an engaging and practical experience with a complex neurosurgical procedure.
DANDY DAY 2024: Inaugural Event | A celebration of neurosurgical education and innovation
September 22, 2024
Dandy Day aimed to foster an engaging learning environment for medical students and professionals interested in neurosurgery and neurology. Our goal was to provide valuable insights into current practices, promote hands-on learning, and encourage discussions around the latest advancements in the field.
The panel discussion featured Neurosurgeons and Psychiatrists: Lika Khorbadadze, Madona Akhobadze, Madona Sekhiashvili, Magda Gerantia.
The event featured a diverse range of topics:
- Lumbar Puncture and CSF Analysis: A hands-on workshop where participants learned the techniques and significance of lumbar puncture in diagnosing neurological conditions.
- Neuroradiology: An in-depth exploration of imaging techniques and their applications in neurosurgery.
- Neuronerds Brain Anatomy: A detailed session focusing on brain anatomy and its clinical relevance.

- Neurosurgery (Follow-up): Discussion on the importance of postoperative care and follow-up procedures.
The event concluded with the Brain Bee Competition, showcasing the knowledge, precision, and enthusiasm of aspiring neurosurgeons. Participants demonstrated their understanding of complex neurological concepts, and the winners were awarded certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Dandy Neurosurgical Society
