Silvia Festuccia holds a Ph.D. in Architecture and Heritage from the University Alfonso X El Sabio (Spain), a MA, and a Specialization degree in Near Eastern Archaeology at Sapienza University of Rome (Italy).
She teaches Archaeology and History of Art of the Ancient Near East (Cultures of the Ancient Near East, the Middle East, and Africa) at the interuniversity School of Specialization on Archaeological Heritage set up by the University Suor Orsola Benincasa and the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli. Dr. Festuccia is an Honorary Fellow at the University Tor Vergata (Italy) and the Director of the ‘Multidisciplinary Archaeological Project in Maasser el-Shouf - Qalaat el-Hosn (Lebanon). She is an expert archaeologist at the Technical Secretariat of the Special Superintendence PNRR, Ministry of Culture (Italy) and participates in the research group Res-Data Laboratory - Remote Sensing and Spatial Data Science, Institute of Heritage Science - CNR (Italy).
Silvia Festuccia has participated in different archaeological missions, directing several excavation areas and surveys in Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Morocco, Greece, and Italy. She collaborated with underwater archaeological projects and was responsible for the coastal and underwater surveys in Italy and Lebanon. In addition, she has published several monographs and articles related to pre-classical civilizations and archaeological excavations directed in the Near East and Italy
