Nino Sanadiradze

Professor

Nini Sanadiradze holds a PhD in Art History and is a Professor of Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies.

 

From 2016 to 2025, Nini Sanadiradze served as the General Director of the Tbilisi Museums Union, where she led the development of the municipal museum system, the rehabilitation of museums, and the creation of modern educational and public programs. Under her leadership, numerous cultural and educational projects were implemented, aimed at strengthening public engagement and promoting contemporary interpretations of cultural heritage.

 

Her professional work focuses on cultural heritage protection, museum development, and memory studies. She actively participates in international professional networks and academic projects. Nini Sanadiradze is a Senior Fellow of the Thesaurus Poloniae International Research Program at the International Cultural Centre in Kraków, where her research focuses on Georgian–Polish cultural relations and memory politics.

 

In 2023, she was awarded the Order of Honor by the President of Georgia for her contribution to the protection and international promotion of Georgia’s cultural and historical heritage. During her leadership, the Tbilisi Museums Union received a Special Commendation at the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) from the European Museum Forum for innovative museum practices. In 2025, she became the laureate of the Kenneth Hudson Award for Institutional Courage and Professional Integrity, presented by the European Museum Forum for outstanding professional courage and principled leadership in the museum sector.

 

Nini Sanadiradze is the author of numerous publications on cultural heritage, museum practice, and memory studies and regularly participates in international academic conferences. Her research interests include cultural memory, the social role of museums, memory politics, and cultural heritage management.
