Mirian Shengelaia graduated from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University in 1999. Since then, he has been actively involved in the field as a director, DOP, editor, and specialized equipment operator.
From 1999 to 2006, he worked on a variety of national and international projects as a director of photography and editing for the broadcasting company Rustavi-2. The list of projects he worked on includes Georgia Modern History, Courier P.S., Psycho, Who Wants 20000?, Brainiest Kid, and Versus People.
From 2007 to 2016, he collaborated with various TV companies as a director, director of photography, or editing director. He was involved in several notable projects, such as Red Zone, Life Is Beautiful, Geobar, Voice, and Great Georgians.
Shengelaia has also worked on numerous commercial, music, and corporate videos. Shengelaia has been the director of photography for six feature films, including Susa, which has won four major awards at international film festivals.
Since 2018, he has been working with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty as a director and videographer for several documentary series: Anareklebi, +- 21, and Fenovani 2.30.
