Marina Vashakmadze has more than 30 years of experience in practical journalism. She has advanced through all stages of journalism, from reporter to senior executive roles in leading media organizations. At different times, she has served as a member of the Euronews Board and Head of Euronews Georgia editorial, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) Tbilisi Bureau Chef; Strategic Advisor to Adjara TV of Georgian Public Broadcaster. She is the founder and editor of several publications and author of numerous news stories, and documentaries. For several years, she led the ICFJ ProMedia II Program. 

Alongside her professional practice, Marina Vashakmadze has been engaged in media research and academic teaching, delivering lectures at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and other journalism schools. She has held various academic positions, including Head of the Journalism department at Tbilisi State University; Professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA); Visiting Professor at Louisiana State University (USA) and Full Professor at the Caucasus Media School. Currently, she is the Dean of the School of Media and Communications at New Vision University.
