Kesava Reddy Mannur has been an Upper GI, Laparoscopic and bariatric consultant surgeon in London since 1993. He started his laparoscopic surgical work in 1990 and bariatric surgery in 1998. He established the bariatric surgical unit at Homerton University Hospital, London in 2003 and developed this into one of the leading-reputed centres in bariatric surgery in the UK. He had been the Director of Bariatric Surgery and consultant surgeon at Homerton University Hospital until 2017. He was Upper GI surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, London performing laparoscopic Oesophageal and Gastric surgeries for benign and malignant conditions. He has an honorary consultant surgeon position in Homerton University Hospital to deal with complex bariatric cases and mainly operates in The Wellington hospital, The London Clinic and Spire Hospitals in UK.
Kesava Reddy Mannur, though had been performing laparoscopic resections of colon, rectum, oesophagus and stomach, now has concentrated his work in bariatric surgery, both primary and Revisional. He has performed more than 5,500 bariatric surgeries with minimal morbidity and mortality. He has conducted 6 internationally recognised bariatric surgery symposiums and 7 Bariatric training courses in Homerton Hospital, London since 2010. He trained a lot of surgeons in laparoscopic, GI and bariatric surgery. He has presented his work both at the national and international obesity surgery conferences and has work published in peer-reviewed obesity surgery journals. He has performed live surgeries for demonstration in conferences in various countries. He along with Professor Annette Fritcher-Ravens has done Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery NOTES research in animals in Bremen, Germany.
Kesava Reddy Mannur served in the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society BOMSS council, UK. He has also been an advisor to NICE guidelines, UK. He was appointed as professor and head of the department of surgery in Deccan Medical School, Hyderabad, India in 2014. He established the department of surgery for Mediciti Hospitals, Hyderabad, India in 2015. His campaign for reduced sugar in foods in numerous newspapers in UK resulted in sugar tax in UK.
Except medicine, Mannur is interested in meditation and charity work. He runs free school and charity hospital in Hyderabad India with a group of likeminded people. He has also established a free school Subbareddy Ramasubbamma ZP High school in Peddakarampalli in India.
