Ekaterine Jaiani was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences by the George Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology in 2004. Since 2000 she has been an employee of the same institute, and since 2014 - a chief academician.

From 2013 to 2014, Ekaterine was the Head of the Water Microbiology Laboratory at the Georgian Agrarian University. She has completed internships in research institutions and scientific laboratories in European countries, including: The Institute of Biology at Stuttgart University (Stuttgart, germany), The Laboratory of Cell Biology at the University of Wales (Cardiff, Wales), The Center for Marine Biotechnology (Baltimore, USA), etc.
