Davit Bazerashvili holds a law degree from Tbilisi State University (Georgia), as well as LL.M and MA degrees from the University of Bologna (Italy);
Since 1998 he has a continuous career as a practitioner lawyer and diplomat, as well as in the fields of expertise and academics. Some of the positions held by Mr. Bazerashvili include: Head of Department for International Relations of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Deputy Director of the International Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of Georgia in the Republic of Italy, Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia in the United Nations Organisations Accredited in Rome (FAO, IFAD, WFP). Since 2004 he is a founding partner of VBAT law office.
In the period of 2002-2005 he was a long-term Legal Expert of Georgian-European
Policy and Legal Advice Centre (GEPLAC) and a member of the editorial staff of Georgian
Law Review. During his professional career he was an invited consultant and expert of the
World Bank, EU, Council of Europe and other international organisations’ legal and
governance projects. He was an invited lecturer in the bachelor and master programs at the
Tbilisi State University. He has conducted several postgraduate courses in the fields of law,
human rights and modern diplomacy.
Since 2021 Mr. Bazerashvili works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in the
position of the Head for EU Assistance Coordination Office. Resides in Tbilisi and Rome.
