Project N° 611570-EPP-1-2019-1-GE-EPPJMO-Chair
The Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law has been established at New Vision University with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Recent developments in Georgian-EU relations and implementation process of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement significantly deepens political and economic ties with this organisation. Consequently, there is a greater need for better understanding of the EU policy and EU law as well as raised public awareness in this regard.
It is natural that these steps towards the EU increase interest in the European Law as such. Approximation process cannot be implemented without the proper insight in the legal order. For Georgian students EU Law is a discipline, the study of which is determined by practical values combined with the existing general interest in the EU.
The creation of the Jean Monnet Chair at New Vision University aims at contributing to raising awareness of European legal studies and encouraging analysis on the legal issues of the EU-Georgia relations.
Teaching activities take the form of lectures and seminar. Electronic Publication of “Working Papers on EU Law” serves to disseminate the research results of work in progress to encourage the exchange of ideas and academic debate.
Duration of the project is 4 years – 2019-2023.
The Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law is held by Professor Gaga Gabrichidze.
