Diversity and Equality Policy

NVU has developed and implemented Diversity and Equality Policy, that serves as a guiding framework for promoting fairness, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all. It is ensured that no individual is discriminated or treated unfairly based on any ground. This policy extends to all aspects of university life, including admissions, learning and teaching, employment and progression, public outreach and support services. The policy incorporates university’s policies against harassment (including sexual harassment).

Gender Equality

New Vision University has a dedicated Gender Equality Policy and Action Plan, that focuses specifically on promoting gender equity and eliminating gender-based discrimination. We are committed to creating an environment where individuals have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive. It guides university efforts to address gender disparities, promote gender inclusivity, and create a supportive atmosphere for everyone on campus.

Supporting Implementation of Policies

To ensure the effective implementation of the diversity and equality and gender equality, policies, as well as protection of individuals from discrimination or hate speech and supporting multicultural and open, safe environment for all, a dedicated staff member is available at university, who systematically: monitors implementation of the university gender equality policy and action plan, ensures accumulation of gender segregated data and quantitative and qualitative data on diversity and equality issues, supports awareness-raising of university community on diversity and equality issues, including through the trainings and workshops, develops recommendations to the university governing body and executes other activities that are necessary to support the university policies and values. Since 2022, the described functions are delegated to the executive manager of the strategic development and internationalization committee, as since formation of the committee, one of its aims is to support multicultural and open environment at NVU. Violations of the policies are addressed by the disciplinary commission of the university.

Disciplinary Commission

To maintain a high standard of conduct and to protect the rights and dignity of our students and staff, university has a Disciplinary Commission. This commission is responsible for addressing violations of any disciplinary and ethical principles. Some actions performed by student can be incompatible with student status, as defined by the Article 43 of the Regulation on Carrying out Educational and Research Activities. Breaching of university’s ethical norms can also be a reason for termination of the contract with employee, as defined by Internal Labour Regulation of the University.

The disciplinary commission comprises impartial members who are committed to upholding justice and fairness in their decision-making processes. The formation of the commission ensures fairness, transparency and inexistence of the conflict of interest.

The current composition of the disciplinary committee was approved by the decision of academic board N04, 25/03/2022 and includes: Tamar Tsertsvadze, Head of the Legal Aid Center; Ekaterine Bakaradze, Executive Manager of the Quality Culture Committee; Vakhtang Zaalishvili, Professor of Private Law.

The commission takes action based on the complaint, that can be made by any member of the university community, as well as external interested party. The decision of the commission is taken by the principle of consensus and based on the university’s declared values. The interested parties participate in the hearing of the commission and the subject of hearing has the right to defend one’s interests.

If students or staff feel that their rights, dignity, or the ethical principles of the university have been violated, or have been subject of the harassment or hate speech, university encourages them to come forward and submit a complaint through the communication challenges described above.

The confidentiality of the applicant/whistleblower is ensured; University provides a safe environment, where one can speak out on their experience without fear of further harm and victimization.
