Webinar "Georgia and the EU - From Cooperation to Integration"

As part of the "Democracy Talks" series, the New Vision University School of Politics and Diplomacy is hosting a webinar "Georgia and the EU - From Cooperation to Integration".

The webinar consists of a 15 minute presentation and a 15 minute Q&A session.

The presentation will cover short history of EU-Georgia relations from early 90s to present day. EU's role in supporting Georgia's statehood, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The speaker will make an overview of the EU’ s assistance and contribution to the democratic transformation and transition to market economy of Georgia, implying intensive institutional build up, forming an EU compatible legal and regulatory environment.

Further, the speaker will explain the role of most important institutional arrangements of Georgia with the EU - PCA (1996) in the past and now the Association Agreement (2014); what Deep and Comprehensives Free Trade Area (DCFTA) is and what it promises. The speaker will touch upon the issues of Georgia's participation in the EU driven projects of regional cooperation - ENP and EaP.

Other formats of sectoral cooperation as well as the future of Georgia- EU relations will be interactively discussed with the audience.
