"THE BLACK SEA UNIVERSITY" OPENING EVENT
On July 14, the opening event for the international student program Black Sea Summer University 2023 was held at NVU. The theme of the program is “The Shifting Geopolitics of the Black Sea Region”.
The deputy director of the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP) Renata Skardžiūtė-Kereselidze, the Dean of the School of Politics and Diplomacy Irakli Kobalia, and the Head of the Black Sea Summer University Program Marie-France Perdigon delivered welcoming speeches.
In the framework of the opening event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivanna Machitidze and Prof. Dr. Gvantsa Davaitashvili delivered lectures on implications for the Black Sea regional cooperation of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and rethinking the EU's Eastern Enlargement.
The program Black Sea Summer University has been held in Georgia since 2015, with close cooperation between the Georgian Institute of Politics and Centre International de Formation Européenne (CIFE). The participants comprise both Georgian and foreign students who share an interest in the politics of the Black Sea region.
