NATIONAL MOOT DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS ON LEGAL ETHICS

On November 27-28, 2021, the New Vision University Legal Ethics Chair organized the fourth Moot Disciplinary Hearings on Legal Ethics. Students from various authorized public and private universities/law schools, participated in the moot hearings. Teams were represented from the following universities: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Free University of Tbilisi, International Black Sea University, St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University and Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University. Participating teams were assessed by invited expert-judges, including Georgian Bar Association Ethics Commission members, ethics commission lawyers and defense lawyers, who have outstanding competence and experience in legal ethics. To guarantee a fair and impartial assessment during the competition, the names of the universities of the participating teams remained unknown to the judges.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure the safety of participants, moot disciplinary hearings were held online.

Teams that failed to advance to the final rounds were awarded with the special nominations and instead of identifying the winner, all four finalist teams were awarded the certificates for success in the finals and prizes – bookstore vouchers. did not identify the winner. All students were granted with the certificates and special awards – bookshop vouchers. All participants of the moot hearings will be presented with the Legal Ethics textbook.

The moot hearings were held with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of East-West Management Institute’s (EWMI) project Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia (PROLoG).
