
LEGAL ETHICS CRASH COURSE FOR IAKOB GOGEBASHVILI TELAVI STATE UNIVERSITY
During October 30 – November 3, 2023, with the USAID Rule of Law Program support, New Vision University Legal Ethics Chair in partnership with Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University conducted a week-long legal ethics crash course for law students.
The crash course on Legal Ethics helped students understand the ethical dimension of decision- making in advocacy, enabling them to manage the ethical challenges they will encounter in their legal practice. The course included a series of lectures on legislation regulating legal practice, as well as a comparative analysis of Georgian, U.S. and European regulations on lawyers’ professional responsibilities.
The course was led by Ms. Ana Loria, the New Vision University Legal Ethics co-chair, a member of an Ethics Commission at Georgian Bar Association (GBA) and Georgian Association of Arbitrators (GAA), and a lawyer. In total, 31 students participated in the crash course out from which 19 fully completed the course and were awarded certificates.
