Elene Khurtsidze is a Winner of Italian Respiratory Society Research Grants Competition

Elene Khurtsidze, NVU Clinical Skills lecturer, will participate in a research grant awarded by the University of Milan Hospital Pulmonology Department within the framework of the Italian Respiratory Society Research Project from February 1 to May 10, 2019.

This research is conducted for the first time in Europe and aims to evaluate gloze in phlegm as a possible biomarker of bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. 

The visit aims to implement the newest methods of diagnostics and treatment of chronic lung diseases, in particular bronchiectasis; and to create a united register of diseases. Linking this register to a European one will facilitate research, improve accountability, diagnostics and treatment in keeping with a comprehensive European standard implementation in Georgia.
