Legal Clinic on Combating Violence Against Women
On December 9, 2025, within the framework of the international project “Combating Violent Crimes Against Women and Girls” (COVIOCRIME), the Legal Clinic program was launched.
The program includes legal, medical, and psychological components, aiming to develop students’ comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in combating violence against women. The clinic is led by lawyers and psychologists working on cases of women and girls who are survivors of violence. A total of 30 students from the Schools of Law and Medicine are participating in the program, all of whom have completed a multi-stage selection process.
Within the framework of the clinic, students will have the opportunity to:
- Study international standards for combating violence against women, the mechanisms for their protection, and the psychological aspects of working in victim protection;
- Learn the specific protection needs of victims and survivors;
- Review actual criminal cases and examine court case law, including case law of the European Court of Human Rights;
- Explore the systems established to protect female victims and hear from forensic medical experts about evidence collection and retrieval;
- Participate in providing services for real cases at the clinic alongside specialists.
The clinic is significant for two main reasons. First, it provides effective legal assistance to women who are victims of violence. Second, it offers participating students valuable practical experience, which they can then share with secondary school students. This will help raise awareness and promote preventive education.
