Public Lecture on Sustainability Law

As part of Human Rights Week, New Vision University, with the support of the European Union in Georgia and the United Nations Human Rights, hosted a public lecture on the topic of sustainability law.

Sustainability law is becoming an increasingly important concept in the modern legal sphere. It is based on the principle that legal decisions and policies must ensure ecological, social, and economic sustainability while safeguarding human rights.

During the lecture, the following topics were discussed:

  • What sustainability law is - its principles and core concepts;
  • Its place in the contemporary legal environment and how it is integrated into current practices and policies;
  • Links between sustainability law, human rights, international law, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Participants also explored topics such as the impact of sustainability law on policy, legislation, and global processes.

The session was led by subject-matter expert Irakli Giviashvili.
