Media Masterclass – “Fake News, the Journalist, and Society”

On October 27-31, the School of Media and Communication at New Vision University organized a five-day exclusive media masterclass titled “Fake News, the Journalist, and Society.”

Over five days, approximately 60 students and prospective students attended lectures by journalism researchers and practitioners John Maxwell Hamilton and Marina Vashakmadze on the history of propaganda and fake news, along with the mechanisms involved in their creation and dissemination.

The program covered the following key topics:

  • Creation and spread of fake news;
  • Principles of how propaganda works and its impact on public consciousness;
  • Journalistic ethics in the age of artificial intelligence;
  • The spread of fake news in the media and the challenges of fact-checking on social media platforms.
