Round Table Discussion on Legal Ethics at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University
On January 22nd, 2020, New Vision University legal ethics chair, together with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University organized a round table on ‘Confidentiality and Privilege’. Mrs. Ana Loria, New Vision University Legal Ethics Co-chair and the Member of the Georgian Bar Association Ethics Commission, lead the discussion. The round table was on the definition of confidentiality and a privilege, legislative gaps and the scope of privilege. Mrs. Loria discussed related regulations and case law in Georgia, as well as in Europe, the UK, and the United States.
Practitioner lawyers and law professors participated in the round table. They were actively engaged in discussion and shared their experience with the audience towards the abovementioned issues. They hoped there will be such kind of discussions held in future too and underlined the importance of ethical obligations in legal profession.
The event was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of East-West Management Institute’s (EWMI) project Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia (PROLoG).
